Sometimes life can be difficult and challenging. Sometimes we want the opportunity to find new ways to enhance our lives through change. Counselling can offer a person the opportunity to have support in times of change or difficulty. It’s a conversation with a person who is impartial, offers support and is there to listen and help you to make sense of everything. I provide a confidential, safe, non-judgemental and supportive space to help people explore their difficulties that they may be experiencing. Through therapy an individual can gain insights and understanding which can be a catalyst for growth and change.
Sometime the words “Counselling” and “Psychotherapy” are used individually or simultaneously when talking about therapy. There is a difference between both types of therapy.
Counselling looks at the immediate issues that have brought the client to therapy. It can seek to resolve short term issues.
Psychotherapy looks at the immediate issue but also can look at the deeper emotions that may connect the issue with experiences in their past.
Both forms of therapy intertwine with each other and provide the structure for therapy to take place. It provides a space for the therapeutic relationship to form and build and allows the client to explore their issues safely and in confidence. Counselling and Psychotherapy can empower the client by helping them gain deeper awareness and clarity.
