My name is Bernadette Cahill and I am a fully qualified and IACP accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist.
My practice, Cahill Counselling is based in Enfield, Co Meath. I provide a safe space for people to talk in confidence as they journey through whatever issues has brought them to counselling. I listen with understanding and respect as people share their story and work towards change. I believe that people deserve to be listened to in confidence and without judgement. Each person comes with their own unique story and I feel very privileged to be with them on their therapeutic journey.
My practice, Cahill Counselling, is based in Enfield, Co Meath. I started my journey into the professional world of counselling and psychotherapy when I began my studies in 2014. I studied with the IICP in Killinarden, Co Dublin where I completed the BA(Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy and received a First Class Honours Degree. I am also a fully accredited member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and I adhere to the IACP Code of Ethics and Practice. I am also ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills) trained.
I work primarily using a person centred approach. This approach believes that each client is unique and that they are the expert in their life. I am also trained in a number of other approaches which allows me to tailor the therapy to suit the needs of the client.
My journey of counselling and psychotherapy started long before I began training in the field. Like many others I attended counselling to help me through a difficult time. My experience during this time opened my eyes to the importance of having a safe space to talk and explore feelings and thoughts. I realised that while we have friends and family that having someone who is impartial and able to listen to your story and help you see things through a different and better lens can be a saving grace.
